Solo Cup EuropeSerious about Sustainability

Step 1: Where does our raw material come from?

Solo Cup Europe is working in partnership with Closed Loop Recycling to obtain a local contracted supply of rPET.  We will be supplied with 20% of Closed Loop Recycling’s rPET, which will have been derived from the PET products collected from post consumer consumption. This rPET flake material meets all EU regulations for food contact use.

Solo Cup Europe’s PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a plant-based resin commonly derived from corn starch. PLA is an ideal coating for paper cups, as PLA is a fully compostable material. PLA can be composted in an industrial composting facility where temperature, light and humidity can be regulated. We use it to manufacture hot cups, hot cup lids and cutlery.

We also make a range of dinnerware made from bagasse. Bagasse is the fibre left over after the liquid has been squeezed out of sugarcane stalks and is an annually renewable resource.

The Solo Bare™ range of single-use tableware and containers is made using recycled, recyclable, compostable or renewable resource materials to offer Solo Cup Europe customers a range of more sustainable product options.
